Everything you need to know before submitting your application.
Which membership type is right for me?
GTAR offers several membership options based on your professional role and business needs.
- REALTOR® Primary – For licensed real estate professionals whose primary REALTOR® membership will be with GTAR.
- REALTOR® Secondary – For REALTORS® who already hold primary membership with another REALTOR® association and want to join GTAR.
- MLS Only – For licensed real estate professionals who need access to the Greater Tyler MLS without REALTOR® association membership.
- Designated Affiliate – For companies that provide products or services to the real estate industry and wish to engage with the REALTOR® community.
- Affiliate Local – For local businesses that want to network and participate in association activities.

How do I join GTAR?
Joining GTAR is easy! Simply follow these steps:
- Review the membership requirements for the membership type that's right for you.
- Complete the online application.
- Upload any required documents.
- Our Membership Team will review your application and contact you if additional information is needed.
- Once your application has been approved and payment has been received, we'll activate your membership and, if applicable, your MLS access.
How long does the application process take?
Our goal is to process completed membership applications within 2–3 business days. If additional information is needed, our Membership Team will contact you promptly to help complete the process.
MLS access is generally activated after your application has been approved, payment has been received, and any required orientation or training requirements have been completed.
Can I apply online?
Yes! GTAR offers secure online applications for all membership types. Simply select the membership option that best fits your needs, complete the application, upload any required documents, and submit it for review.
Our Membership Team will guide you through the remaining steps and contact you if additional information is needed.
What documents do I need to apply?
Required documents vary depending on the membership type you are applying for. Depending on your application, you may be asked to provide:
- A copy of your active TREC license
- A Letter of Good Standing (for REALTOR® Secondary applicants)
- A completed office roster (for brokerage applications)
- Other supporting documentation, if applicable
- Your online application will identify any required documents before submission.
Membership Types

What is the difference between REALTOR® Primary and REALTOR® Secondary?
REALTOR® Primary membership is for licensed real estate professionals whose primary REALTOR® membership is with GTAR.
REALTOR® Secondary membership is for REALTORS® who already maintain primary membership with another local REALTOR® association and wish to join GTAR to access local services and benefits.
What is MLS Only Membership?
MLS Only membership provides access to the Greater Tyler MLS without REALTOR® association membership.
This option is available to licensed real estate professionals who meet GTAR's MLS participation requirements but do not wish to join the REALTOR® association.
What is a Designated Affiliate membership?
Designated Affiliate membership is intended for companies that provide products or services to the real estate industry and want to build relationships with REALTORS® through GTAR.
Designated Affiliates receive association benefits and may be eligible for additional services, including GTAR membership and Supra key eligibility, when applicable.
What is an Affiliate Local membership?
Affiliate Local membership is designed for local businesses that want to support and connect with the Greater Tyler real estate community.
Affiliate Local members enjoy networking opportunities, events, and association involvement but are not eligible for GTAR membership or Supra key services.

What are the requirements to become a GTAR member?
Membership requirements vary depending on the membership type you are applying for. Before submitting your application, review the eligibility requirements for your selected membership to ensure you meet all applicable qualifications.
Do I need a sponsoring broker to join?
If you are applying for REALTOR® membership, you must be affiliated with a brokerage that participates in the Greater Tyler MLS. Newly licensed agents should coordinate with their Broker before submitting an application.
I am a newly licensed agent. Can I apply?
Yes. Newly licensed real estate professionals are encouraged to apply once they have an active Texas real estate license and are affiliated with a participating brokerage.
Do I need a Letter of Good Standing?
A Letter of Good Standing is generally required only for applicants transferring from another REALTOR® association as a REALTOR® Secondary member. Your online application will identify when this document is required.
What happens after I submit my application?
Once your application has been submitted, our Membership Team will review your information and verify any required documents. If additional information is needed, we'll contact you promptly. After approval and payment, your membership will be activated, and if applicable, MLS access will be established.
Fees & Billing

How are membership due calculated?
Membership dues vary based on your membership type and the month you join. REALTOR® memberships include local, state, and national association dues, while MLS fees and other charges are determined by the services you select.
Can I estimate my membership fees before applying?
Yes. Visit our Estimate Your Fees page to receive an estimate based on your membership type and join month.
What payments methods are accepted?
Membership fees may be paid using the payment methods accepted by GTAR. Our Membership Team will provide payment instructions after your application has been reviewed.
Can I enroll in AutoPay?
Yes. Members may enroll in AutoPay for eligible recurring dues and fees after their membership has been activated.
When are membership dues billed?
Association dues and MLS fees are billed according to the GTAR billing schedule. Your Membership Team will explain your billing cycle during the application process.
MLS Access & Member Benefits

When will I receive MLS Access?
MLS access is typically activated after your application has been approved, payment has been received, and any required orientation or training requirements have been completed.
Am I eligible for a Supra key?
Supra key eligibility depends on your membership type and eligibility requirements. Please review the Membership Comparison page or contact our Membership Team for assistance.
What member benefits are included?
Benefits vary by membership type and may include MLS access, education, networking opportunities, professional development, advocacy, member discounts, and additional association services.
Will I have access to the GTAR SSO Hub?
Yes. Eligible members receive access to the GTAR Hub, where they can access member resources, communications, education materials, and association information.
Where can I find important forms and resources?
The GTAR Hub provides convenient access to member resources, forms, guides, announcements, and other helpful information.
Education & Professional Development

Is New Member Orientation required?
Newly licensed REALTOR® members are required to complete New Member Orientation within the timeframe established by GTAR.
Do I need to complete the Code of Ethics course?
Yes. New REALTOR® members must complete the National Association of REALTORS® Code of Ethics requirement within the required timeframe established by NAR.
Does GTAR offer continuing education?
Yes. GTAR offers a variety of continuing education, professional development, and training opportunities throughout the year.
How can I register for classes?
Education classes and events may be viewed and registered for through the GTAR website and member communications.
Where can I find upcoming events?
Visit the GTAR Events Calendar to view upcoming education programs, networking opportunities, committee meetings, and special events.
