HOW TO JOIN

Interested in becoming a member? 

As a Primary Member, you will pay your National, State and Local Dues annually through GTAR.  

As a Secondary Member, you pay your National and State dues to your primary Association.   You will pay Local GTAR Dues only. 

As a Primary or Secondary member, you have the opportunity to serve on committees, vote on Association matters, attend events, etc.

       As an MLS Only Member, you already hold REALTOR® membership in a Texas Association and just need MLS Services with GTAR

As an Affiliate Member, you have an interest in the real estate market and/or community.  Our affiliates are mortgage companies,  title companies, property inspectors, real estate photographers, pest control companies, etc.  As an Affiliate member, you have the opportunity to sponsor and/or attend Association events, serve on committees, and network with realty professionals.  Your membership includes the Texas Association of REALTORS ® (TR)  member benefits. 

Requirements to join as a Primary Member.

  • You must have an active TREC or TALCB License and sponsored by a broker who is a member of GTAR.
  • Your Designated REALTOR® must be a member with GTAR.
  • You must submit an application for membership, and pay the application fees and membership dues.
  • If you are transferring your Primary Membership to GTAR, you must provide a letter of good standing from your current association with your membership application.
  • Members must attend an in-person MLS Basic Course within 30 days of joining.  This is a requirement that cannot be waived.
  • Unless you are transferring your Primary Membership to GTAR, you must attend an in-person New Agent Code of Ethics course.   This is a requirement that cannot be waived.  (Not applicable to appraisers.)
  • You must attend the New Member Orientation with 60 days of joining.  This is a requirement that cannot be waived. (Not applicable to appraisers.)

    Steps to Join:  

  1. Please review the Primary Member Joining Fees based on your application month for the breakdown of the entrance fees.   Note: Supra fees are not included in the entrance fees.
  2. Download the Primary REALTOR®/Broker Associate/Appraiser Application 
  3. Complete your application.
  4. Please ensure you download all pages of the application and sign the terms and conditions page 4 and the credit card authorization form on page 5.
  5. Gather your TREC License and if applicable, your letter of good standing (newly licensed agents will not require a letter of good standing).
  6. Submit your application, TREC License, and if applicable, your letter of good standing to membership@gtar.com.  
Please allow 1 to 3 business days to process your application.  We will call you for the credit card information to pay your entrance fees.
Newly licensed agents are required to attend 3 New Member Orientation Courses and Secondary Members will be required to take an online Paragon MLS Course but are always welcome to attend in person. 
Your Welcome Response Email Notification will include the required course dates, login credentials for the GTAR Member Portal and Paragon MLS Access.

Requirements to join as a Secondary Member

  • You must have an active TREC or TALCB License and sponsored by a broker who is a member of GTAR.
  • Your Designated REALTOR® must be a member with GTAR.
  • You must submit an application for membership, and pay the application fees and membership dues.
  • You must provide a Letter of Good Standing from your Primary Association.
  • Members may attend an in-person MLS Basic Course or Online MLS Basic Course within 30 days of joining.  This is a requirement that cannot be waived.

In-State Secondary Members pay Local GTAR dues only. OUT of State Secondary Members will pay Local GTAR Dues and Texas Realtor Dues annually.  Secondary members have voting rights and can hold leadership positions.  If you need MLS Services only and do not desire voting rights with GTAR, please complete the MLS Only application in the Requirements to join as an MLS Only Participant (Broker) or MLS Only Subscriber (Salesperson) section  below.

  • If you are a business entity broker, provide a copy of your TREC Entity License. 
  • You must submit an application for membership, and pay the application fees and membership dues.
  • If you are transferring your Primary Membership to GTAR, you must provide a letter of good standing from your current association with your membership application.
  • Members may attend an in-person MLS Basic Course or Online MLS Basic Course within 30 days of joining.  This is a requirement that cannot be waived.

  1. Please review the Primary Designated REALTOR® Joining Fees based on your application month for the breakdown of the entrance fees.    Note: Supra fees are not included in the  entrance fees.
  2. Download the Designated REALTOR® Application 
  3. Complete our application.
  4. Please ensure you download all pages of the application and complete page 1, 2, the terms and conditions page 5, and the credit card authorization form on page 6.
  5. To set up your office, gather a copy of your TREC Entity License.
  6. Gather a copy of your TREC Broker's License.
  7. Submit completed application, TREC Entity and Broker licenses, and if applicable, a letter of good standing to membership@gtar.com.

New Primary and Secondary Brokers are required to take an online Paragon MLS Course but are always welcome to attend in person.

Requirements to join as a Secondary Broker/Appraiser

  • You must have an active TREC or TALCB License.
  • If you are a business entity broker, provide a copy of your TREC Entity License. 
  • You must submit an application for membership, and pay the application fees and membership dues.
  • Obtain a letter of good standing from your primary association.
  • If your primary association is out of state and you are currently with another Texas Association, obtain a second letter of good standing showing you pay Texas Realtor Dues annually.
  • Members may attend an in-person MLS Basic Course or Online MLS Basic Course within 30 days of joining.  This is a requirement that cannot be waived.

Secondary Brokers pay Local GTAR dues.  Out of State Secondary Brokers who are not paying Texas Realtor dues through another Texas Association will pay Local GTAR Dues and Texas Realtor Dues annually.  Secondary members have voting rights and can hold leadership positions.  If you need MLS Services only and do not desire voting rights with GTAR, please complete the MLS Only application in the Requirements to join as an MLS Only Participant (Broker) or MLS Only Subscriber (Salesperson) section  below.

  5. Gather your TREC Broker's License
  6. If you are a business entity broker, provide a copy of your TREC Entity License. 
  7. Gather your letter of good standing from your primary REALTOR® Association.
  8.  If you are currently with another Texas Association, gather your letter of good standing showing you pay your Texas Realtor Dues annually.
  9. Submit your application, broker's license, entity license, and letter(s) of good standing to membership@gtar.com.

Requirements to join as an MLS Only Participant (Broker) or MLS Only Subscriber (SalesPerson)

  • You must have an active TREC or TALCB License.
  • Your Designated REALTOR®/Broker or Appraiser must be a member with GTAR MLS.
  • If you are a business entity broker, provide a copy of your TREC Entity License. 
  • You must be an Association of REALTORS® member with a board in Texas and are requesting MLS Services at GTAR.
  • You must submit an application for MLS Only Subscription Services, provide a Letter of Good Standing from your Primary Association and pay the MLS Participation Fee and MLS Fees.
  • Members must attend an in-person MLS Basic Course or elect to take an online class within 30 days of joining.  This is a requirement that cannot be waived.

  1. Please review the MLS Only Joining Fees for your application month for a breakdown of the entrance fees.   Note: Supra fees are not included in the  entrance fees.
  2. Complete MLS-Only application   
  3. Please ensure you download all pages of the application and complete page 2, the credit card authorization form on page 3 and the terms and conditions on page 6.
  4. If you are a Designated REALTOR® (Broker) and have agents who will not wish to subscribe to our MLS, complete the MLS Subscription Waiver
  5. Gather your letter of good standing and a copy of your TREC License and email all documents to membership@gtar.com

You are to attend either an ONLINE OR IN-PERSON MANDATORY CLASS REQUIRED FOR MLS ONLY MEMBERSHIP – Absolutely, NO WALK INS.   
Instructions for the required MLS course and your login credentials for the GTAR Member Portal and Paragon MLS Access will be included in your Welcome Response Email Notification.

 Requirements to join as an Affiliate

  • Real Estate Owners and other individuals or firms who, while not engaged in the real estate profession actively, have interest requiring information concerning real estate and are in sympathy with the objectives of the association. Some Affiliate examples would be Title Companies, Mortgage Companies, Financial Institutions, Home Inspectors, Home Protection, etc.
  • Submit an Affiliate Membership Application
  • Pay the application fee and applicable State and Local Dues

  2. Download the   AFFILIATE APPLICATION   
  3. Send your completed application to membership@gtar.com.
Please allow 1 to 3 business days to process your application.  We will call you for the credit card information to pay your entrance fees.
Upon completion of your application, you will receive a Welcome Response email with your login credentials for the GTAR Member Portal.

 

 Requirements to join as an Office Administrator or Personal Assistant

Important things to remember:

  • GTAR requires all Office Administrators and Personal Assistants to have their own unique username and password.
  • Assistants/Admins are not allowed a Supra Key.  It is against our MLS Rules and Regulations to share Supra Keys.
  • TREC Licensed Agents serving as Assistants/Admins must hold full membership with GTAR based on their license type with the same Sponsoring broker where they will be working as an Assistant/Administrator.
  • Unlicensed Quarterly Personal Assistant/Office Administrator fee is $87.14 paid quarterly.

  2. Send your completed application to membership@gtar.com.
